While having a blast in the Colorado Mountains for Spring Break, I am excited to say that I was just accepted into my number one choice study abroad program in Australia and New Zealand this summer from May 28 to July 2nd. This 5-week program is entitled Environmental Studies: Ethics, Culture, and Sustainability: The Spirit of the Landscape and is sponsored by Arcadia University offered through the College of Global Studies. I am so amazed and still in a state of awe that my dream abroad is finally coming true.
The program is a “unique summer program that gives students the opportunity to explore and engage with the stunning landscape of Australia and New Zealand while gaining an understanding of the influence of the wilderness experience on human behavior as well as its significance to the indigenous and contemporary societies in Australia and New Zealand.” I cannot wait to meet new people from other places and embrace the cultural landscapes of the native lands. Some of the interesting topics outlined in the program are listed below:
• Study experience focuses on the environment, environmental ethics, culture and
sustainability.
• Gain an understanding of Australia and New Zealand’s unique wilderness environments
and their significance to indigenous and contemporary societies.
• The relationship between humans and nature; psycho-evolutionary
theory; conservation, sustainability and climate change; and leadership and personal
theory; conservation, sustainability and climate change; and leadership and personal
development through wilderness experience.
*CAN'T WAIT*
